Tristan Laflèche

Of Counsel in our Ottawa office, Tristan Lafleche practice focuses on corporate and commercial work, with experience that spans multimillion‑dollar transactions, restructuring mandates, and public‑sector advisory roles. He built his legal foundation inside institutions where risk, ethics, and accountability are not theoretical, they are daily operational realities.

Tristan advises clients on commercial contracts and transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and corporate reorganizations and restructurings, with additional experience in franchising, banking and finance, and tax‑adjacent matters. He also supports clients in insolvency and restructuring files designed to preserve business continuity, and helps build and grow franchise networks, from structuring to documentation and regulatory compliance.

Before acting on high‑value transactions Tristan began his career within the Government of Canada’s integrity regime, where he reviewed procurement processes and assessed the ethical standing of suppliers working with federal departments in Canada and abroad. This early exposure to multi‑jurisdictional compliance, internal review systems, and ethical risk management continues to inform the way he structures transactions and advises on corporate strategy.

Tristan developed a strong public‑sector perspective as he later served as legal counsel for the City of Ottawa, handling a broad portfolio that included municipal and provincial offence prosecutions. In private practice, his advice is shaped by a clear throughline: transactions only succeed when the operational, regulatory, and ethical dimensions align with the business objective.

Tristan holds a combined Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Commerce, magna cum laude, from the University of Ottawa and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2022. He practices in English and French.
