Richard Laramée serves as the Managing Partner of the Montréal office and Chairman of the Board of Prelia. He is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and plays a key role in guiding the firm’s strategic direction, growth, and international development. With a forward-thinking business vision and a collaborative leadership style, Richard contributes to the governance of Prelia globally and supports the firm’s expansion in key international markets, including Asia and Central America.


With more than forty-five years of experience in commercial and business law, Richard has developed recognized expertise in transactional law, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance. He advises private and public companies operating both nationally and internationally, and has led major transactions for high-growth organizations across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, entertainment, commercial real estate, retail (including automotive), financial services, and emerging technologies.


Richard’s deep understanding of corporate governance strengthens his work in structuring and reorganizing major corporate groups. He regularly advises on governance frameworks, growth strategies, market expansion, and acquisition planning. His strategic insight and extensive business knowledge make him a trusted advisor for companies navigating complex commercial challenges.


Beyond his legal practice, Richard is actively engaged in community and charitable initiatives. He is the cofounder and Chairman of the Charles-Bruneau Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting pediatric oncology. In recognition of his significant contributions, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal in 2022.
