Paolo Piantoni is a partner in Prelia’s Milan office, where he advises on banking, financial markets, and corporate law. He combines over 20 years of experience with a strong international background, enabling him to effectively manage cross-border transactions and multi-jurisdictional regulatory issues by bridging Italian law with global market practices.
His expertise includes investment services regulation, the establishment and authorization of financial institutions, and the distribution of both Italian and foreign funds. He also advises on banking compliance, anti-money laundering, and the regulatory framework governing financial intermediaries, with particular recognition for his work on intermediaries’ liability and derivative contracts.
On the corporate side, he assists clients with M&A transactions, due diligence, joint ventures, and financing arrangements, adopting a practical, business-oriented approach that aligns legal strategy with commercial objectives.
He graduated in Law from the University of Milan and further specialized in international finance law through postgraduate studies at Oxford. His career includes experience at leading law firms and international environments, including work in Milan and London and an in-house role at Citibank, which contributed to shaping his global perspective.
